Melissa McDonald

Melissa McDonald is Principal of The Providence Group of the Carolinas, LLC in Charlotte, NC. Melissa began her career in retailing, starting as a buyer for a department store chain (13 stores). After leaving that position, she worked with both Bank of America (formerly NCNB) and Amoco Oil Company (now BP) in marketing, outside sales and real estate (Amoco). In 1990, she began a career in retail real estate, working with Lat Purser & Associates in Charlotte.  Most of Melissa’s responsibilities included leasing distressed shopping centers taken back by Lenders and also small tenant representation assignments. In 1997, she joined Core Properties in Charlotte, where she remained for 15 years. Her business became solely tenant representation in the Carolinas, doing work for national retailers including the three TJX concepts (Home Goods, Marshalls and TJ Maxx), Michaels, Ulta, GNC, Zoe’s Kitchen, West Marine, Off Broadway and Five Below, among others.

Melissa took a principal position at The Providence Group in late 2011, assuming some management responsibilities as well as maintaining all of the tenant rep accounts handled at Core Properties. She is a 1981 graduate of St. Lawrence University in Canton NY and an ICSC Ambassador.

Ms. McDonald will be available for individual mentoring sessions.
